At CCM, we believe deeply in the power of second chances. Through the HIRE (Helping Justice-Involved Reenter Employment) Project, we’re turning that belief into action. As a Network Hub designated by the California Workforce Development Board, CCM is leading a coalition of partners focused on helping justice-involved individuals gain access to meaningful employment. With over 299 participants enrolled to date, and inspiring success stories like Sergio—who now works at SpaceX after completing welding certification—and Todd—who transitioned from homelessness into full-time logistics work—the HIRE initiative is proving that lives can be transformed through training, support, and opportunity.

On February 21, 2025, CCM brought this vision to life through our Empowering Futures Together Career Fair in Inglewood. The event connected 150–200 attendees with 15 local employers, vocational training providers, and wraparound service organizations. A total of 50 onsite interviews were conducted, and 3 job seekers were hired on the spot. Beyond the numbers, the event was a space where participants received resume help, job readiness coaching, professional attire, and even grooming services like haircuts and makeovers—ensuring they left feeling prepared and confident.

Behind the scenes, thoughtful planning made the difference. Weekly strategy sessions CCM’s Hub Team and in collaboration with our network of Spokes allowed for strong collaboration. We paired employer booths with community resources tailored specifically to justice-impacted individuals. A special thanks to our incredible Spokes—Center for Living & Learning, Christ-Centered Ministries, Five Keys Schools and Programs, Guardians of Love, Los Angeles Mission, Paving the Way Foundation, PCS Family Services, Inc., and Reignite Hope—whose commitment, creativity, and shared vision were essential in making this event a success. Their collective efforts ensured that attendees had access not just to jobs, but to the wraparound support and dignity-centered approach that empowers lasting change.

Outreach efforts included a mix of digital promotion, email campaigns, direct partner engagement, and word-of-mouth through our Spokes. That coordinated effort led to strong turnout and deepened our collective impact. In reflecting on lessons learned, we plan to expand employer diversity and build more robust follow-up systems to track outcomes. We also saw firsthand how crucial it is to build with the community—not just for it.
The HIRE Project is more than a workforce program—it’s a movement built on resilience, collaboration, and holistic empowerment. With continued support, strategic and collaborative partnerships like California Workforce Development Board and Spokes, we’re staying aligned with our mission: to create real, lasting opportunities for those ready to rebuild their lives.
